Butter London Henley Regatta

I was so excited for this polish!!! My first (and only) Butter London polish!!!
When I opened the package and took the bubble wrap of, I squeled. It's just simply stunning! I'm such a patient person, so of course I immediately took of my polish and painted this on my nails.

 

Hmmm... 4 coats and still not opaque... Let's try this again...
This time I painted my nails with 2 coats of China Glaze Turned up Turquoise and topped it with 2 coats of Butter London Henley Regatta.

The formula was perfect and the brush is very nice! Henley is a turquoise micro glitter in a clear base, so this will never be opaque on it's own, but two coats over another polish is plenty. You could even get away with just one, but I like two better.

It was just simply stunning! I couldn't take my eyes of it and the next morning my collegues at work were all drooling over my nails. This picture does not do it justice. It's more sparkly, more alive in real live.

I wore this polish proudly and was looking forward to taking beautifull pictures in the sunlight when I got home after work. Untill I noticed someting... I was stunned... this never happens to me...

A CHIP!!!

 

 

Ok, no big deal, this happens a lot aparently, just never to me. I can wear a polish for at least 3 days without chips and I have been know to rock the same polish for 2 weeks with just a bit of tipwear.

I got over it, sighed and went back to work (I work in an office, so no major impact on my nails). About 15 minutes later, I glanced at my nails, and was shocked again!

 

ANOTHER CHIP!!!
And a big one too!!! Wat is happening to my nails?

Unfortunately, the horror didn't stop...

 

I couldn't seem to keep this polish on my nails! After about 3 hours, I only had polish on my middle finger left... Even though I absolutely love the color and it applies like a dream, I'm not happy with this polish and I won't be wearing it a lot...

I will be trying it again with a different polish underneath, especially because it's a very expensive polish, but you can imagine this is nog a good start for me and Butter London...

 

I have to admit, if this was a cheap drugtore polish, I would have tossed it.

 

I did wonder if it might have been a combined problem, because TuT always chips on me too... but never this fast, I'm usually able to wear that for at least a day before chipping and it never flakes this bad, so I'm afraid that must be Henley's fault.

But just to make sure, I'll try this with a different polish underneath.

China Glaze Flying Dragon (neon)

There's no doubt about it, summer is here!!!
The weather has finally changed and I'm enjoying the sun and extremely hot temperatures for as long as they will last (forecast is predicting a drop in temperature and rain in a few days... yeah...).

Finally, I can wear all my summer polishes and see all the beautifull shimmer, glitter and neon colors come to live in the sun.

The polish I'm wearing today is one of those summer polishes, China Glaze - Flying Dragon (neon). A bright purple polish with blue micro glitter, an unusual combination, but that's what makes this so unique and pretty.

There are two versions of this polish, a normal one and a neon one, this is the neon version. The normal one is darker, more purple. Personally I like the neon better.

The formula of this polish was perfect, nothing like other neons. Not streaky or patchy, almost opaque in one coat, but better with two. It did get a little goopy after a few nails, but nothing I couldn't manage and easily solved by rolling the bottle between my hands.

It dries down to a mat finish, like most neon polishes and because of the micro glitter in it, it doesn't feel completely smooth. One coat of SV fixed all of that.

Essie Butler Please

Today I have an amazing polish for you.
I have a love - hate relationship with Essie, I either love a polish or I hate it!
This one is weird... I love it AND I hate it...

Essie - Butler Please is a bright blue cream.
And when I say bright, I mean BRIGHT, in your face blue!

The color... oh boy... I just LOVE this color! Can't get enough, keep staring at my nails and wave my hands around all day Love this color! I have gotten so many compliments when wearing this polish. It's definitely an eye catcher.

It's pretty opaque, 2 coats can be enough and it dries really fast.

But this is where my problems with this polish, and the hate part, begin.

It doesn't handle very well... it gets goopy, applies streaky and most of the time I need 3 coats to even it out completely.

The finish is another one of my "problems", it dries to a not quite mat finish, but definitely isn't shiny either. But since I always top my polish with a coat of super shiny Seche Vite, I'm not really bothered with the finish.

And lastely, the Essie brush...

I think the brush of the Essie polish I can buy  here is different then the Essie brush in the States or Canada.

It's wide, really wide

I can handle it, but it's just a little to wide for my taste. It covers  my pinky in one swipe and I have to be really carefull not to touch my cuticles. I just like my brushes a little smaller.

On the other hand, the brush on the Essie polishes I ordere online from the States, is a little to narrow for me... Essie just can't seem to get it right in that department for me :D

And last, but not least, this polish chips on me really fast. I had a chip on day 2 of wearing this polish both times I have worn it. For me, that is extremely fast, as I tend to have no chips at all, even if I wear a polish for 4 or 5 days. No idea why, I guess I'm just lucky that way!

But even with all the problems I have with this polish, I do love it more than I hate it.

You just can't beat the color.

Misa Party in the Masquerade

Misa is one of my all time favorite brands. Every polish I have tried so far is spot on when it comes to consistency, the brush is perfect, they dry really fast and the end result is super glossy and stays on my nails without chipping for at least a week!

I love this brand so much, the only "bad" thing about Misa is, they don't have a lot of unique colors. So Misa, get to work making more of those beautifull polishes :D

Misa - Party in the Masquerade is a stunning raspberry pink neon cream.
And, unlike other neons, this is a dream to work with.
Opaque in just two thin coats, dries fast, glossy... everything you could want in a bottle.

I wore this beauty on holiday in the South of France for 10 days straight and I just had some tipwear. I would have worn it for the full two weeks, but I bought a pair of new flip flops and just had to match my polish, hands AND feet, to them...

I own two other Misa neon polishes, one is very close to this one:

Hot people like you, Sandals Flip Flops and Hip Hop and Party in the Masquerade

I painted my nails a while ago with Sandals and wondered for a full 10 minutes if I grabbed the right polish or Masquerade by mistake...

Will do a comparison post in the future :D

China Glaze Happy go Lucky

I'm back from my holiday break, started my new job and finally have everything up and running. Time for a new post :D

Today I have one of my favorite spring/summer polishes for you.
This one surprised me, because I usually can't pull of a yellow polish with my skintone (why I own about 6 of them, I have no idea... I have a problem... ), but I have gotten so many compliments wearing this polish. I am positively over the moon with this one!

A friend of mine, Kelly, kept trying to get me to buy this polish, but I resisted for almost a year, because... well... it's yellow!
Usually when I wear a yellow polish, my hands look like they belong to a dead body, but not with this one.

This look simply stunning!


China Glaze - Happy go Lucky

A bright yellow cream polish.
The formula leaves a little to be desired, it tends to be a bit streaky and gets goopy after a few nails, but I have come across much worse yellow polishes.

And the color... oh boy... it's just so incredibly pretty!
Bright yellow and super glossy... every time I wear this polish it cheers me up :D

A definite winner in my books!

I might have to take of my current polish and paint my nails with this one when I get home.
