China Glaze Celtic Sun

A couple of weeks ago, I saw that one of my favorite webshops, Enchantra, was having a 50% discount on China Glaze and even though I promised myself I wouldn't buy any more polishes this month, I just couldn't let this opportunity go by without picking up some of the polishes that I've had on my wish list for a while.

China Glaze Celtic Sun is one of those polishes. It's a neon highlighter yellow polish and I've been lusting after it for oh... I don't know how long. It was first released in the Ink Collection in 2008, but has since been added to the core collection (I think) and it's still available.

The formula is ok, it's just a little on the sheer side, so I layered it over a white base. It flows on the nail with ease and dries fast enough, although a little on the matte side like almost all neons. A nice layer of my trusty HK Girl fixed this problem.

This definitely makes a statement and I got a lot of "Wow, what are you wearing on your nails???" comments, but I just love a neon so bright, you need sunglasses if you want to stare directly at it.

This is not for you if you like a subtle polish, but if you don't mind an in your face kind of color, I'd suggest giving this a go, it's absolutely amazing!

#SUMMERNORULES: National Chocolate Day

Happy Chocolate Day everybody!
Yes, chocolate has his own national holiday and why wouldn't it? Nothing beats that rich, creamy taste and I could eat chocolate every day of the week! The only thing stopping me, is the fact that my thighs are big enough already and chocolate seems to settle right in that area...

But that doesn't mean I can't have some sort of chocolate on my nails for the #SUMMERNORULES Challenge. I had a great idea, but as usual, I failed miserably in the execution. The fact that in my 500+ polish stash, I only have 1 brown doesn't really help...

I wanted to do some kind of chocolate bar on my nails, but that just wasn't going to happen and after several failed attempt, I decided to cheer myself up with a bowl of vanilla ice cream, topped with a lot of chocolate sauce, one of my favorites! I looked at the bowl, (while stuffing my face) and suddenly I knew what I was going to do for this mani!

Vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce nails it is!

I love these drippy nails and keep going back to them, I think they are a fun way to easily spice up a mani.

OPI Sorry I'm fizzy today

OPI teamed up with Coca Cola for a nail polish collection? Whut??? As I'm a total Diet Coke junkie, I was all over that collection! That is... until I saw the first pictures. I was so disappointed...
Not only was it a collection of boring colors, but they didn't do anything nice with the bottles. Why not put the Coca Cola logo on the cap like they did with the Gwen Stefani signature or the horses with the new Mustang collection? Such a bummer and I resisted buying any of them for quite some time.

But I did look at some swatches and discovered this collection actually has some very nice understated beauties in it. So I finally caved and ordered a few, today I have my favorite to show you.

OPI Sorry I'm fizzy today is a subtle pinky coral (or a coraly pink, what ever floats your boat!). This is supposed to be inspired by Vanilla Coke (which I've never tried, but it sounds disgusting to be honest), but I have no idea how they came up with this color... Maybe they got this color by mixing Coca Cola's signature red with the light beige vanilla color? Anyway, it's gorgeous!

The formula is ok, a little on the thin side, a little patchy and I did need 3 coats to get it completely opaque and even. It dries fast enough and very shiny though, so 3 coats is ok. You don't really need to add a top coat, but I always do to prolong my mani.

I just can't get over how gorgeous this is! I showed some friends of mine a picture because I'm so in love and one friend had to have it straight away and she ordered it on the spot and another was totally flabbergasted that I actually loved a pink polish. Yes, I know, not my color, but just look at it! How can I resist?

Sinful Colors Easy Going

Summer is officially here and it's no secret I like bright, fun polish this time of year, but lately I've been craving a more neutral nail. I've been rocking the beige, sand and taupe a lot, but my favorite color has to be a milky, almost white baby pink. Yep, I said it PINK! I've been in love with all the usual suspects like Essie Fiji, OPI Mod about you, etc. but since Sinful Colors is now available here and I've heard Holly talk about this polish so much, I had to give it a go!

Sinful Colors Easy Going is a very light, milky baby pink with a hint of peach. In some lights it looks definitely pink, but in other lights it's more a peachy salmon color. Either way, it's incredibly pretty.

The formula is actually pretty ok for this kind of color. It's a little patchy and streaky as baby pinks tend to be, but nothing I couldn't handle. You do need about 3 coats to get this opaque, but it dries reasonably fast. What you are left with, is a gorgeous clean and fresh manicure.

I just can't get enough of this polish. I love how this looks, it actually makes me look a little tan and I never get tan, so I need all the help I can get! This sort of color is appropriate for all occasions and goes with everything. Such an easy polish.

#SUMMERNORULES: Canada Day

Happy Canada Day to all my Canadian friends!
Of course this is also the theme for the #SUMMERNORULES Challenge and I had so much fun creating this mani! Not because it's very complicated, but because I discovered I suck at drawing a maple leaf... big time!

I wanted to try something new, so I made my own maple leaf decal! I drew the leaf on a piece of plastic, added a top coat, waited for it to dry and then peeled it off to place the home made decal on my nail. This was actually very easy, besides the fact I can't draw a maple leaf to save my life!

The placing of the decal was a little tricky too, because I made it slightly to big. Not that you can see it in this picture, because I only overdid the top coat. But overall, not a bad effort. I'm definitely going to be playing around with this technique, it's fun and easy and you can go wild with the design.

As for the polishes I used, the white is OPI Boyfriend and I've declared it dead after this mani. I almost didn't have enough left in the bottle to get an even coverage for this mani and now it's official: I used up an entire bottle of OPI My Boyfriend scales walls. I'm a little sad...

The red is China Glaze Vermillion, one of my favorite reds to use in nail art, because it's a true red and extremely opaque and easy to use. My bottle has a major layer missing already, so I have to be careful not to use this one up too.
