piCture pOlish Fool's Gold

If you've been reading my little blog for a while, you probably know that I'm a huge fan of Picture Polishes. I just love their formula, even though I did finally come across the first with a trickier formula recently. In the last few months, I've picked up quite a few of them, so you're going to be seeing a lot of this brand here.

Today I have one of their collaboration shades.

Picture Polish Fool's Gold is a turquoise base with gold micro glitter and shimmer. It was created with Sam from The Nailasaurus, whom I've been following for a while. The formula is so nice, it's like applying a smooth cream instead of a glitter. It's one of those polishes that is a little sheer on the first coat, but pretty much opaque on the second. You might need 3 coats if you do really thin coats, but it dries so fast, 3 coats is a breeze.

Turquoise is a tricky color for me to wear, it can wash me out really quickly, so when I first got this polish, I was really scared this wouldn't suit my skintone. But I have to say, I really like it. It's just bright enough for me to pull off.

I always prepare myself for stained nails when I wear turquoise, blue or teal, but I didn't have any issues with this polish. No staining to be seen and that's always a huge plus in my books!

piCture pOlish Lollipop

Sometimes a blogpost writes itself, but today's post...  not so much.
I struggled a little to get the wording for this post right, but the biggest struggle was to get this polish on my nails in such a way, that it did justice to the absolutely stunning polish I saw in the bottle. This wasn't a polish that I just slapped on or a blogpost that I wrote in 2 minutes, this has taken a bit more effort on my part to get it right.

Picture Polish Lollipop is the polish that gave me such a hard time. Yup, a Picture Polish that I struggled with, it's a first for me. Lollipop is a gorgeous deep purple jelly base, filled with different sizes and shades of purple glitter.

When I first saw this polish, I was over the moon with it. It's such a gorgeous deep color and it has glitter in it! The reason that I struggled with it, is that the jelly base is quite sheer and I just couldn't get it opaque and looking deep enough on my nails, while still being easy to paint.

I tried 2 thicker coats, but ended up with a gloopy mess, I tried 3 thin coats, but I found I just didn't want to deal with the thicker formula and run away glitters. I felt so dissapointed and I almost gave up, but I've seen so many people rave about this polish and it looks so good in swatches, I wanted it to work for me too!

So for my third attempt I tried layering it over a single (not even opaque in the slightest) coat of OPI Do you have this color in Stock-holm? and low and behold, it worked, no, it looked stunning!

I only needed 1 coat but I did 2, just to see if it would deepen the color. It didn't, but it did add extra glitter. I absolutely love how this looks, finally I understand what people rave about and this is now a favorite instead of a dissapointment.

This polish was created in collaboration with Nail Polish Canada, a Canadian polish retailer that (unfortunately) doesn't ship internationally. But if you live in Canada, this is a great site for you!

This polish was intended as a more textured polish, so if you want a smooth finish, you do need to add a good topcoat. I suspect that's also the reason for the much thicker than all my other Picture Polishes formula.

piCture pOlish Douceur

When I first saw today's polish, I absolutely loved it, but also doubted whether this would look good with my skin tone. I went back and forth about ordering it, but when my dear friend Fleur decided to visit Australia and asked if I'd like to order some Picture Polishes for her to bring back, this was one of the first to make the cut.

Picture Polish Douceur is one of the collaboration shades and it was created in 2013 with Ophelie from the blog and YouTube channel Tartofraises. I wasn't familiar with her blog before picking this polish up, because her blog and channel are in French and although I do speak a little of that gorgeous language, I just don't speak enough to follow everything. But she does some amazing nail art!

Douceur is French for sweetness and the inspiration for this polish came from her love of all things sweet and jelly. It's a very light pink nude looking base with small pink glitter and a scattering of holo micro shimmers.

The formula is just amazing! I was ready for 3 coats at least, in fact, I even texted this to a friend of mine, just before painting my nails with this polish. I was very happily surprised to find out it was completely opaque in just 2 thin coats! It dries really fast and reasonably shiny, but I would suggest adding a nice top coat to make it really shine and smooth out the slightly bumpy finish.

I'm over the moon this polish turned out to look really nice on me. I love how soft and sweet this looks. This is the perfect soft spring polish for me, especially with the pop of bright pink glitter.

piCture pOlish Badass

Hi all, did you have a nice weekend? I'm still stuffed from all the sushi I ate on Saturday, but I had so much fun! Thanks girls, you made my weekend!

The polish I have today, I basically bought for the name. I thought it was pretty, but nothing special in the bottle. Boy, was I wrong...

Picture Polish Badass is a black base, filled with a lot of teeny tiny holo glitter. On the nail, it looks more like a charcoal grey polish, because of all the glitter in it. This is one of the collaboration shades and it's created with Sassy Shelly.

The formula for this polish is... well... fan-freaking-tastic!!! It's really easy to paint, dries really fast and shiny, but what you see in my swatches, is 1 coat! Yup, this baby is a true one coater! Not a thick or even slightly thicker coat, just one, easy, smooth and thin coat!

Dark, twisty, glitter, one coat... do I even need to tell you how much I love this polish? I just can't get over it. Well done Picture Polish and Sassy Shelly, well done!

The text on the bottle fits me perfectly: nice nails, naughty girl. This is me in a bottle!

piCture pOlish Imperial

A few days ago, I was talking to a friend about which polish to get and I mentioned that I rarely wear purple polish, but if I do, I always love it. So the next day, as I took off my polish, I decided to give purple another go. This polish jumped out at me and had to be the one to go on my nails.

piCture pOlish Imperial is a bright, vibrant purple base with a scattered holo, blue micro glass flecks and small gold hex glitters.

This shade is a collaboration shade, made with The Swatchaholic, if you want to read how she came up with this shade, you can read her story here.
The formula is really nice,  it's super opaque, only 2 coats needed and it flows on the nail with ease. Because of the neon quality of this polish, it does dry to a semi matte finish, so in order to get it to shine, you need a glossy top coat. I have to say, I don't really see the holographic in this polish, but I don't miss it, not at all!

 

I absolutely love this shade! It's so vibrant and rich, if you love purple polish, you need this! (Yes, Marianne, I'm talking to you!) The only thing I don't love about this polish, is the fact that it is nearly impossible to photograph correctly! It took me about a hundred tries to get these photo's and they are still not quite right. These are a little on the bright side, but they do come really close!

 

This is the first Picture Polish I've ever tried and I understand why people rave about this brand. I love it and have already purchased just a few more.
