Mani Monday's: Valentine's Day

Happy Monday everybody!
Today's Mani Monday's theme is Valentine's Day. I have to admit, I don't really celebrate this holiday, but every now and then my husband surprises me with a little gift and I do enjoy all the love and romance that comes with this holiday.

For this mani, I tried different things to get that romantic feeling. Some turned out better than others...
I love my little hearts, but the big one was a pain in my behind! I cut out a stencil and sponged a pink gradient over it. Oh boy... big disaster! The polish got underneath the stencil and just left a gradient blob on my nail. So I got out my white polish again and created the heart shape free hand by painting the white edges over the gradient... It still looks awfull, but at least you can tell it's a heart.

On the rest of my fingers, I deceided to do the gradient I used for the heart and I only did 1 coat, because I wanted it to look sheer and dainty. Next time I will try 2 coats, just to see how that turns out.

Do you celebrate Valentine's Day and what is your favorite mani for a romantic occasion?

Butter London Snog

Every time I tell people I painted my nails pink, they seem really surprised. And with good reason! I almost never wear pink, it's just not my thing. I do own quite a lot of pink polishes, but they are just standing in my Helmer, looking pretty...
But every now and then I get a craving for a specific color polish and I just have to paint my nails that color! Monday was one of those days and I am currently rocking a stunning pink polish (yes, it's still on my nails and I only have some minor tip wear!)

Butter London Snog is a hot pink cream with a raspberry tint to it. This is my kind of pink! Bright and in your face hot pink that looks good with my skintone.

The formula of this polish though, is not so great... it's streaky and a little patchy. It takes 3 coats to get opaque and to even out on the nail. Luckily it does dry fast, so 3 coats is not too big of a hassle.
The Butter London brush is really small and narrow, I would have liked it better if it was just a little bigger and the handle was just a little longer. This would give you a bit more control. But I do really like how this polish looks.

Do you rock pink nails and what do you think of the Butter London brush?

China Glaze Purple Panic

This past weekend, we've been enjoying some of the last nice weather for this year. Fall is definitely here, but it was bright and sunny and the sun just made me happy. So I decided to take advantage and rock a neon polish! I decided to grab one that a friend of mine raved about and I had to get it because she just couldn't stop talking about China Glaze Purple Panic. Get your sunglasses out, because this baby is BRIGHT!

This is a gorgeous bright, in your face, need to cover my eyes pink neon polish. Why it's called Purple Panic, I have no idea... it's not purple at all! It does have a blue undertone and sometimes you can see a blueish sheen on your nail, but purple... nope...
This polish was part of the 2006 Wow factor collection, but you should be able to still get your hands on it fairly easily.

Formula wise, I was actually really impressed with this polish. normal neons are a pain to deal with, streaky, goopy and patchy, but this wasn't to bad. Don't get me wrong, it still wasn't a dream to work with, but it was opaque in just 2 coats and handled better than any of my other neons. It did dry extremely fast and a little matte, so I added top coat to make it shine. I like them matte, but I love them shiny!

2 coats Purple Panic, 1 coat SV
I wasn't kidding when I said bright, right :D
I really like this polish, but I don't know... it's just so... PINK!

I'm not really a big fan of pink nails, but I like the brightness of this polish and when I'm in the mood for pink nails, I tend to go all out and that's exactly what this polish gives me.

What do you think about pink nails and neons?
