China Glaze Seeing Red

When China Glaze released a collection based on The Giver, I was all over that! Not because I loved the movie, but because I have a huge not so secret crush on mister Alexander Skarsgard, who plays Father in that movie. He is pure perfection and I've told my husband many times I wouldn't hesitate about kicking him out if this blonde Viking showed up on my doorstep. Oh, the things I'd do to that man.... anyway, I digress...

When I saw the colors for this collection, I loved them all, but decided I would only pick up a couple. So of course I ordered 10, lol. The fact that I'm only missing 2 of the entire collection, is kinda making me want to pick those up too, but I've resisted so far!

China Glaze Seeing Red is a gorgeous red cream. When I first saw this, I wondered if I needed this in my stash, it's a red cream, how many red creams do I need? Well, all of them as it turns out, because this is a totally unique color to my collection! It's a dusty, brick red, perfect for fall!

I love the color, but what really sold me on this polish was the formula. This is a 1 coater! You don't even need to do a thick coat, this is a true 1 coater, so a single thin coat is all you need. I did do 2 coats, just to see if it would deepen the color, but it didn't change anything in terms of opacity or color, it's just as gorgeous on the first coat.

It's easy to apply, glides on the nail and dries fast enough and super glossy, I'm so glad I decided to pick this up after all. If you love red polish, definitely check this one out!

Do you love red polish and what's your favorite fall red?

China Glaze New Birth

I was browsing through my stash yesterday, trying to pick a polish to wear, but I didn't feel like any of the colors I pulled out. It seemed like I wore them all recently and I just wasn't feeling it. So I thought it was time for something to cleanse the palette. I usually go for white or a nude when I'm in this kind of mood, but as I just picked up a few of the polishes from The Giver collection that China Glaze just released, I thought this would do the trick.

China Glaze New Birth is a gorgeous super light blue cream. It almost looks white, but they did add a few drops of blue. It actually never looks white on the nail, but you'd have to hold the bottle next to a true white to see a big difference.

The formula was nice, it flowed on the nail with ease, but it was a tad bit patchy. It did level nicely on the nail though and dried quick enough. I did 2 thin coats, but I should have added a third, because I do have some bold spots on my nails. I just couldn't be bothered yesterday...

I really love this color, it's so nice and fresh and it's just what I wanted. My nails look like a blanc canvas, ready for some colorful paint next time I paint my nails, which will probably be tonight or tomorrow, because I change my polish that often.

I love these types of polishes because I wear so much color and bling on my nails, every now and then I need something a bit less... well... colorful and this is perfect for that! I know it looks pretty much white, but it really is blue, trust me!

What polishes do you tend to reach for when you need a break from all the color, glitter or other craziness on your nails?

China Glaze Boundary of Memory

When I saw that China Glaze was coming out with a collection based on The Giver, I knew I had to pick up a couple. I haven't seen the movie yet, but the fact that Alexander Skarsgard is in it makes me want to buy every single polish. It's a not so secret fact that I have a little crush on him and a polish collection based on one of his movies... I'm all over that!

Luckily I loved almost all the colors, but the one I'm showing you today stood out the most for me.
China Glaze Boundary of Memory is a densly packed micro glitter in black, brown, copper and silver.

This is so densly packed, it's opaque on its own in 2 coats, but that's the one good thing I can say about the formula. It's thick, goopy and dries so fast, it's hard to get nice and even on the nail. Pair that with a crapy brush and you have my bottle of this polish. This has one of the worst formula's I've come across in a long time, it gives the neons a run for its money!

But the end result is absolutely stunning. I can forgive a polish a really crapy formula if it's really gorgeous on the nail and luckily that is the case with this polish. In real life this sparkles a lot more than in my pictures, because of the silver glitter in it.

I really love it, I just wish the formula wasn't as bad. I have read a few reviews about this polish that said the formula was actually ok, so maybe it's just my bottle. Let's hope so, because if you love the China Glaze micro glitter polishes, you'll love this one!

Have you seen The Giver yet and will you be picking up any of the polishes?
