Zoya Savita

I love purple polish and own quite a few of them, but somehow I never seem to be in the mood for purple nails. I always go for the same kind of colors (red, blue, green or something DarknTwisty), but a few months ago I decided to try to step outside my comfort zone more often and wear different colors.

Zoya Savita is one of the first polishes I wanted to wear. It's a stunning deep purple with a pink shimmer. This is part of the Matte Velvelt collection, just like Veruschka that I showed earlier.

I'm so in love with this bottle shot, my cat wanted to play with the bottle while I was taking pictures and her little nose ended up in the shot :)

The formula is very nice, but because it's a matte velvet polish, this dries really fast, so you have to work fast, or you'll end up with a streaky finish. It's opaque in 2 coats, but if you do a thick enough coat, you can definitely get this opaque in just 1.

Even though it's a matte polish, it does have a bit of shine to it and I actually prefer this velvet matte finish to a normal matte finish. When you add a top coat, the pink shimmer is even more noticable on the nail and even though I really love it shiny,  I prefer the matte version. It's just a little more special.

The color just takes my breath away! It's so pretty, I absolutely love it! The pink shimmer gives a lot of depth to it and makes it perfect for every season. I'm so happy Zoya decided to re-release this collection, I'm just hoping they'll re-release the chartreuse one too (Mitzi I think?), but I doubt they wil.

My most worn polishes: main stream

When people hear I have a little bit of a nail polish addiction and I own more than 10 bottles of polish, the number one question they ask, is whether I actually wear them all or if there are some polishes that I wear more than others. Truth is, I have a lot of polish I've only worn once. Somehow I always end up wearing the same polishes.
Some I gravitate towards because they have a perfect formula and others I just absolutely love the color of.

Today I'm showing you my most worn polishes from main stream brands. I do have quite a few indie polishes I gravitate towards, but to not make this post about half a mile long, I decided to split them in two. I'll show you my indie most worn polishes next week.

So, let's get started!

I love Zoya and luckily, I now have access to this brand, because Color4Nails started stocking them. But the ones I wear the most, happen to both be Pixie Dusts. Carter on the left and Tomoko on the right. Easy, perfect formula's, no base or topcoat needed and they dry really fast.

Next up is Essie and I have to admit, none of these polishes have a particularly great formula, but I absolutely love the colors! From left to right: Cute as a button, Butler Please and Skirting the Issue. 

I have a lot of OPI's I wear a lot, but these are the ones that I have worn the most and keep wearing over and over. All have really nice formula's, are easy to paint and the colors are just stunning. From left to right you see Suzi ski's in the Pyrenees Suede finish, Lincoln Park after Dark, An affair in Red Square and Smitten with Mittens.

This first one might surprise you, as I haven't even talked about it on my blog. Even though it's a pink glitter, I wore this a LOT! My bottle is almost gone and the polish has gotten so thick, it's almost impossible to paint. But I still wear it, mostly as an accent though, because it's just too much hassle to do all 10 nails. OPI Excuse moi, Dim Sum Plum, Russian Navy, My boyfriends scales walls and My favorite ornament.

China Glaze is probably one of my favorite main stream brands. I love the brush and the colors, but their formula differs quite a bit from one polish to the next. This is Ruby Pumps, Phat Santa ( I keep wanting to call this Bad Santa...), Vermillion and Lubu Heels. yup, all reds, but hey, I just can't live without red nails!

And since China Glaze does make polish in a different color, here are the other ones I rock a lot. It just occured to me, that I totally forgot to include Grass is lime greener... I love that polish and it didn't come of my nails last spring and summer. So just picture it next to Zombie Zest, Splish Splash, Riveting and 108 Degrees.

And lastly, we have some miscellaneous brands. I love all these brands, but I don't own as much of them. But that doesn't mean I don't wear them, these are some of my favorite polishes! We have Orly Melt your popsicle and Angel Eyes, Misa Party in the Masquerade, Color Club Holiday Splendor and Sally Hansen Pacific Blue (original formula).

There your have it, my most worn polishes. I do love every single one and I even have a back up for a few of them.

Zoya Dream

I was looking through my stash last weekend and was surprised and a little embarrassed to see all the polishes I have that I really wanted, but never actually wore on my nails. I decided I'd change that, picked them all out of my helmers and set them aside to be worn in the next few months. Today's polish is one of those polishes and it has to be the one I wanted the most, but couldn't get my hands on, until my friend Holly send it to me.

Zoya Dream is a gorgeous deep blue base, packed with a scattered holographic glitter. It was first released as part of the 2013 Zenith collection, but luckily it should still be available at the normal Zoya retail places.

The formula is really nice, it flows on the nail without any problems, is opaque in 2 thin, easy coats and it dries fast and shiny.

This polish stood in my stash for... oh, I don't know how long, but it must be close to a year now, without ever making it onto my nails. Shame on me... Just look at that color! Why I never painted it before, I'll never know, because it's just stunning!

I love a blue nail and this is no exception. It looks very flattering with my skintone and the scattered holographic gives it a lot of depth and makes it sparkle on the nail. I absolutely love it!

Zoya Wendy

I had a bit of a technical problem yesterday, so unfortunately I wasn't able to post anything. I got a new phone over the weekend and although I'm in love with it, I totally forgot that all my swatch pictures were still on my old phone... Not a big problem, I just had to connect my old phone to my laptop, get the pictures and save them on my laptop. Well... first my usb cable kinda broke, so it didn't connect to my phone or my laptop and when I fixed that problem and uploaded all my pictures to my laptop, my laptop died. Yup, who saw that one coming?

So, I have to do all my swatches all over again. Not a big deal, but because of the gray and gloomy weather, it did mean I didn't have any pictures yesterday and I only have a couple to show you today. But this is such a gorgeous polish, I just had to show you.

Zoya Wendy is a gorgeous pinktoned coral cream and was released as part of the Summer Tickled collection in 2014.

The formula is a bit patchy and a bit on the thicker side. It dries really fast and super shiny, but I did have to do 3 coats to get it opaque and even on my nails.

But just look at that color! Isn't that pretty? Ok, it's not really appropriate for this time of year, but I'm so over Winter, I needed some sunshine on my nails.

I usually get my Zoya polishes from Color4Nails, but if you live in the states, you can get it from the Zoya website. I think they just started shipping to Canada as well, so fingers crossed they'll start shipping to Europe soon!

Zoya Veruschka

When I saw the my first swatch of this polish, I knew I had to have it! The only problem was its availability... I couldn't find it anywhere! So I hunted it down like a mad women, as you do with those polishes you really want, but still, no luck.

So thank God Zoya decided to re-release the matte velvet collection! After a couple of years of pining for this polish, I can finally call it my own!

Zoya Veruschka is a gorgeous emerald green matte velvet polish. It has a gorgeous shimmer running through it that gives this polish extra depth and dimension.

This is a a matte velvet polish, so it doesn't dry completely matte, it has more of a satin finish. Matte, but you can still see a bit of shine. Personally, I like this kind of finish better than a true matte. The formula took a little getting used to, because of the extremely fast drying time. You have to work quickly and don't mess about with it too much, otherwise it can get a little patchy.

Can you blame me for falling head over heals? Just look at this stunning green! I wear this all year, but it is extra perfect for the Holiday season. I love it in its natural matte state, but when you add a layer of shiny top coat, the shimmer really comes out.

Gorgeous right? To make this mani even more Christmassy, I added some golden sparkle as an accent (Zoya Tomoko). I don't know which I like best, matte or glossy... they're both so pretty. I love the fact that this polish can be worn either way, it gives you options and I like that!

Zoya Remy

Happy Black Friday everybody!
I got up extra early to make my first black Friday purchase, I order the Loaded Lacquer Ha Ha Holiday collection that launced today at midnight CST, I just had to get my hands on them. Heather restocked a lot of other polishes too, so if you want to get your hands on some Loaded Lacquers, head over to the site and pick some up!

Today I have the second polish of the Zoya Ignite collection to show you. I already showed you Yuna, which I love, so I was eager to try the others.

Zoya Remy is a deep blue base with a strong golden shimmer. On the nail, the gold mostly gets covered with the intensely opaque base and you're left with a gorgeous deep blue that flashes green.

The formula is spot on, it's opaque in 2 thin coats, but you can absolutely get away with just 1 coat if you're in a hurry. It's easy to apply and it dries fast and shiny.

 

I love this color so much! The shimmer almost makes this look like a duo-chrome, flashing blue and green. I always love a good blue polish, but this one is so easy to work with and looks really pretty on the nail.

So far the Ignite collection is rocking my world and I only wish I picked up the entire collection. I'm still hoping to get my hands on Sansa and India.

Zoya Yuna

This Fall, Zoya released a two part collection called the Ignite and Entice collection. The Entice part has all cream polishes and the Ignite part has all shimmer polishes. Although I loved (almost) all of the colors, I only picked up a few of the Ignite collection. I am planning to pick up 1 more of the Ignite collection if I can get my hands on it and as for the Entice collection, I don't have any just yet, but there are a couple that I do really like, so I think they might make it to my collection sometime in the near future.

Today I have the first of my picks from the Ignite collection to show you. Zoya Yuna is a gorgeous dark grey base, packed with golden shimmer. The combination of the gold with the grey base, almost makes this polish look green in some lights, but it's definitely grey.

The formula was perfect! Easy to apply, opaque in 2 coats, it dried really fast and with a shiny finish. The shimmer doesn't make this feel bumpy at all, it's absolute perfection and a hidden gem in this collection.

I wasn't even going to pick this one up, but when I placed my order, I needed 1 more polish to fill the box (something to do with a fixed shipping fee and I always feel like I'm wasting money if I don't pick up the maximum amount of polishes...) and I threw this one in.

I thought it looked really nice in the bottle, but when I applied it and saw the color on my nails, I was in LOVE! It's a calm and very sophisticated color, but that golden shimmer packs a punch! This will be a fall favorite of mine from now on and if you love grey polish or even if you don't, you need to try Yuna.

Zoya Noir

When the textured polishes hit the scene, I wasn't an instant fan. I just didn't like the way they got stuck in my hair and clothes, it really bugged me. I'm still not a big fan, but I did find a line of textures I do like, the Zoya Pixie Dusts. They tend to have a finer texture that doesn't bug me as much as the others.

A while ago, Zoya launched the magical pixies, with big, chunky glitter and I skipped all of them. Not only because I didn't like a single color, to sweet for me, but also because I just didn't like the big chunks in the polish.

What I do love about a texture though, is that they are just so quick to apply and dry really fast. So when Zoya released the Ultra Pixie Dusts last month, I was skeptical, because it seemed like there's bigger, chunky glitter in them, but I did really love all 3 colors (red vampy polishes, hello, no brainer for me!) and I couldn't stop myself picking them all up.

Today I have the first one to show you. Zoya Noir is a deep purple base, that looks almost black, with a lot of pinkish red small and medium sized hex glitter.

The formula is really nice. It's opaque in 2 coats, just make sure you have enough polish on your brush for the second coat to cover the texture of the first coat. It dries to a matte finish, like most textures, but the glitters sparkle a lot, which makes it look shiny.

I love this one, it's my perfect texture! A dark, vampy base with a little glitter kick to it, how can I not love it? The larger glitter is something I have to get used to and, I admit, not my favorite, but they're only slightly larger than the glitters in the regular Pixie Dusts, luckily they're not that chunky at all!

After trying Noir, I can't wait to try the other two. If they're anything like this one, I'm going to love them!

#SUMMERNORULES: Favorite Red

If you've been following my blog, Instagram or know me even a little bit, you'll know that my absolute favorite color for my nails is red. I rock every single shade and finish at every occasion. I always say "when in doubt, go for red!" I think every girl should find their perfect red polish and if you do, you're set!

So of course I didn't just pick one favorite red for today's theme, did you really think I would? In order to decide which reds truly are my Summer favorites, I started pulling out all my red polishes. I started with OPI, but when I saw how many reds I had from just that brand, I gave up and just pulled out some of my most worn all time favorites.

In Summer you got to have some glitter! I have 2 that I just can't live without. China Glaze Ruby Pumps is one of the first Chine Glaze polishes I purchased and I still love it in every season. I love this as a Christmas mani, but I also love this in Summer. You can tell I've this bottle is well loved!

A more recent purchase and one that I fell in love with as soon as I saw the bottle, is Loaded Lacquer Cuts like a knife. This is the perfect Summer glitter, the sun makes this sparkle and come to life on the nail. It looks like they're on fire!

If I want a more subdued, sophisticated sparkle, I go for Picture Polish Vegas. This is very orange toned, but it's still definitely red on the nail. This has such a great formula, I love it!

My favorite textured red has to be Zoya Chyna. I love to pair this with a light color in Summer for an extra pop on the nail, but I also rock it as a full mani.

And last, but not least, 2 gorgeous crelly OPI polishes. I think everybody knows about Vodka&Caviar but my absolute all time favorite Summer red has to be Girls just want to play. It's a raspberry red crelly and I am so in love with this polish, it's ridiculous! This deserves way more than just a bottle shot at the end of this post, so I'll do a complete post about this stunner next week!

Go Holland!!!

Today is the second game for The Netherlands in the World Cup and of course I had to show my support the best way I can: on my nails!
After going all out with a bright, in your face neon orange last time, I decided to keep it simple and a little more subdued for this game, by just doing an orange accent nail.

I used 2 Zoya Pixie Dust polishes, they truly are my favorite textured polishes. My overall color is Tomoko and the accent is my most recent purchase (well, when it comes to Zoya anyway) Dhara.

I absolutely love both of them and think this is a very classy mani, with a nice pop of color.
For the next game, I have a little nail art with both these polishes and a couple more in mind, so stay tuned for that!

Our boys are playing Australia tonight and although I'm rooting for us to win, I always have a soft spot for this particular country. It reminds me of the year I spend there, getting to know myself (and having the best time!). Will you be watching?

Zoya Storm

I've been loving a lot of bright and colorful mani's lately, after all it is Spring and the weather has been gorgeous. But as usual I felt the need for something a little more DarknTwisty, just to change things up a little. I just can't live without my gorgeous dark polishes for too long. I picked a perfect day for it too, because it's raining at the moment.

Zoya Storm is just what I wanted! It's a black base with a scattered holo and was part of the Zoya 2012 winter Ornate collection, just like Blaze I showed earlier.

The formula is perfect, opaque in 2 thin coats, it dries really fast and extremely shiny. What a gorgeous polish! This looks like a clear night sky and I can't stop staring. It looks gorgeous in the shade, but when the sun  hits it... oh boy... multi colored black goodness!

Zoya has quite a few of these scattered holo polishes and I think I might own them all. I'm not a big fan of linear holo polish but I do love a good scattered holo every now and again and this is one of my favorites.

Although this is an older polish, it's still widely available. If you love dark polishes with a twist, I'd definitely recommend you pick this up!

Zoya Roxy

Every now and again you see a swatch of an older polish and you know in your heart you HAVE to have it! This happened to me a long long time ago with the next polish. I saw it, fell in love and realized Zoya isn't sold here. Luckily, I knew of a couple of sites that did stock this gorgeous brand, but of course they didn't have this particular polish.

I searched and searched, checking all the sites from time to time, but never found it in stock. That is until a friend of mine let me know that nailpolishfashion.nl was having a 50% off sale and I was browsing through their polishes deciding which ones to pick. My mouth dropped when I saw this was not only listed but in stock! I ordered it within 5 seconds!
Of course after all that hunting, this has been standing in my stash, untried, for a few months... No more!

Zoya Roxy is a gorgeous deep magenta base with magenta glitter. In some lights it looks more raspberry and in other lights it looks more red, but it's always stunning!

The formula was absolutely perfect! As this is a jelly base, I was expecting to do multiple coats, but this was almost opaque in just 1. I did see some bald spots here and there, so I added the second coat to fix that and intensify the color. It dried really fast and shiny, just the way I like it.

This was a hard polish to capture, it's just so deep and intense in real life, I feel my pictures don't quite do it justice. The glitter makes it really come alive on the nail and the color... oh, the color... I just can't get enough! It's deep and vampy, with just enough of a hint of pink. I don't think it comes as a big surprise this made it's way into my top 10 with a bang!

I can keep staring at it all day. I'm over the moon to finally have this little beauty in my stash.
