Dollish Polish Seduce me

If you've been following this blog for a while, you know I don't show pink polish all that often. That's because I'm just not a big fan of pink on my nails. This polish though... oh boy is it stunning and it's making me re-think my whole not-a-fan-of-pink attitude...

Dollish Polish Seduce me was released as part of the Valentine's Day set, inspired by 50 Shades of Grey. The set contained a hand cream, cuticle butter, body scrub and this gorgeous raspberry pink based polish with iridescent and holographic micro glitters and a micro red glitter.

I got my set in the scent Red Velvet cake and it smells divine! I've been loving the hand cream and cuticle butter, but I haven't tried the body scrub yet, as I'm working my way through a couple before opening this one.

The formula for Seduce Me is really nice, it's easy to paint, opaque in just 2 coats and it dries really fast and shiny. I would recommend using a top coat though, to get a really smooth finish.

Isn't that pretty? I'm in love with this polish, even though it's pink. This is just the right kind of pink for my skintone and I didn't even want to take it off after just a day, like with every other pink polish I wear.

Unfortunately, this set was a Limited Edition for Valentine's Day and is no longer available on the regular Dollish Polish website, but keep an eye on the Etsy page, you never know if it might show up there!

Dollish Polish What an excellent day for an exorcism

A few days ago, I was in the mood for something bright, but not quit neon, or so bright it blinded people. Well, that plan failed miserably, but I did end up with a gorgeous, in your face, mani.

Dollish Polish What an excellent day for an exorcism was part of the 2013 Halloween Frights collection. All polishes in this collection were based on horror movies and since I'm a huge horror movie fan, I had to pick up a few of them.

This polish is of course based on The Exorcist, one of my personal favorite horror movies. If you've watched this movie, you know which scene this color is based on... (and if you've never seen this movie, go watch it! ) Finally, a polish that truly deserves the description my friend Yv always gives a murky green polish!

 

Exorcism is a murky, pea green base with green squares, black shreds, holographic silver spots, black bar glitter and micro green glitters. The formula is very sheer, but you can get it opaque on its own in about 3 - 4 coats. I like it on its own, but I love it over China Glaze Grass is lime greener (any excuse to wear that polish... ). This is just one coat over Grass.

This is probably not a color for everybody, but I happen to like pretty/ugly colors like this and the name just makes it even better for me. I've gotten so many compliments on this mani and I even had to write down the name and website for a girl that stopped me in the supermarket to ask about my nails.

Dollish Polish Yo-ho Yo-ho a pirates life for me

Another Monday, another new week! Did you all have a nice weekend? I had a nice and quite couple of days at home with my hubbie. We went out to lunch, did some chores around the house and just spend some quality time together. I have to say, it's one of my favorite ways to spend my weekend.

Today I have a gorgeous polish to show you, Dollish Polish Yo-ho Yo-ho a pirates life for me is a red jelly base, packed with blue, gold, red and magenta micro glitter as far as I can tell. This polish was inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and it's of course based on the famous pirate song.

The formula is really nice for such a dense glitter. It's easy to paint and opaque in 2 thin coats. The glitter comes out easily, without overloading the nail and it dries fast and shiny.

As you know I love my reds and this gorgeous glitter is no exception. I love the deep red base, paired with the multi colored glitter. It gives it a lot of depth and makes this a really fun polish to wear.

The fact that I keep think of Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp in their pirate outfits... well, that's just an added bonus!

Dollish Polish Vampires Coven

A couple of days ago I was browsing Instagram looking for some polish inspiration as I do a lot, when I saw a gorgeous swatch of an older Halloween polish. I took a screenshot and send it to my friend, telling her I needed to find this gorgeous polish and buy it! She replied promptly: "You already own it!" I checked my stash, she was right!

Dollish Polish Vampires Coven is a gorgeous black jelly base with a ton of red and purple glitter. There are hex and square glitter, in micro, small and medium sizes.

The formula is really nice, no fishing needed and it applies smoothly. You could get this opaque on its own in about 3 coats, but I like to layer it over a dark polish, so I don't overpower my nails with glitter. In my pictures, I'm wearing it over OPI Lincoln Park after dark and I think it's a great combination. This is just 1 coat of Vampires Coven, if you want a bit more glitter, you can always go for 2.

I love these kind of black jelly based polishes with red, vampy glitter. I own quite a lot (so much so, that I apparently forget that I own them...) and I keep buying more. They are just so stunning and a nice change from plain dark polish.

This one is gorgeous, I love the fact that it doesn't just have the red glitter, the pop of purple makes this different from all my other black jelly bases with red glitter polishes. This was first released as part of the This is Halloween 2012 collection and I don't think it's still available, but Dolly does have the nice tendency to rerelease discontinued polishes that people really loved (like she did with Walker Bait), so keep an eye out and you might just get lucky!

Dollish Polish Cold winds are rising

After all the bright, light and fun polishes, I felt it was time for just a bit of DarknTwisty on my nails. I'm so happy the weather is changing and the sun is coming out, but even in mid Summer, I crave a dark nail every now and then. This polish is perfect, as it is a little dark and dreary, but with a perfect glitter surprise.

Dollish Polish Cold winds are rising is a dark grey crelly base with icy blue small glitter. I picked this polish out of my stash, because it's inspired by Game of Thrones and I just started watching this show. Yes, I know, I'm a little (well... a lot actually) behind, but I finally started and now I can't get enough!

This has got to be one of the weirdest polishes I ever painted on my nails. The formula was nice, it flowed on my nails with ease, the glitter came out easily and it dried really fast.
The brush however was not so nice. One side was sticking out, making it really wide at the bottom and I had a problem with runaway hairs. I had to trim it down, otherwise I would end up with polish all over my cuticles and that's a first for me. I think I just got a wonky one, because I have several other Dolish polishes and those brushes are all fine.

What makes this polish really weird though, is the opacity. I did 1 coat and sighed, thinking this was never going to be opaque on its own, because I just saw glitter on my nail. That is until I looked at my tips and didn't really see a visible nail line... ok... weird...
I added a second coat and saw no visible nail line at all, but I did feel like it wasn't opaque at my cuticles. It was the weirdest thing ever. I debated if I was going to add the third coat, but decided that I needed it to get a more even finish.

With all the problems with the brush and the weird opacity, you'd think I would come out and say I don't like this polish, but I actually do. It's a nice and calm color, with a glitter surprise. This is a totally work appropriate color with a nice twist. I just wish mine would have a better brush...

Dollish Polish My blue heaven

Happy Monday every... oh... wait... it's Tuesday today. I'm a little off, because I had an unexpected day off yesterday. I was talking to a colleague of mine last week and she mentioned an extra short week this week and I had no idea what she was on about. Turns out our office was closed yesterday because it was Liberation Day. So I enjoyed a really nice day in the sun, doing absolutely nothing. It was Heaven! Which inspired me to slap the next polish on my nails.

Dollish Polish My Blue Heaven is a gorgeous intense blue jelly base filled with varying shapes and sizes of blue/green iridescent glitters. This polish is part of the Movies Series and is inspired by the Steve Martin movie, My Blue Heaven.

The formula was absolutely perfect! It glided on the nail with ease and the glitters were automatically divided evenly over the nail. This was opaque in 2 coats, but to get the intense color as shown in the bottle, I did 3 coats. The dry time was fast and it dried shiny to my surprise. Most times these glitter polishes dry a little matte, but not this one. My pictures are without top coat.

I'm a sucker for blue polish, next to red, blue is my favorite color to wear and this one is a stunner. It's a gorgeous under the sea jelly sandwich all in 1 bottle. I love it!

Dollish Polish Ever thine, ever mine

After all the bright, pastel and just plain spring and summer polishes, I was craving something a little darker, with a little glitter perhaps. This fit the bill perfectly and as an extra bonus: it's red!

Dollish Polish Ever thine, ever mine is a deep red jelly base with a crapton of small black and red glitter and even smaller holo glitter.

This was part of the Valentine's trio "True Romance" and I didn't pick it up. Huh? Did I just say I didn't pick it up? Yes, you read correctly, I didn't pick pick this up.
If you are wondering how I'm able to show this to you today, well... I have a lot of polish hoarding friends (I am not to blame for their addictions, they're all adults who make their own decisions. That's my story and I'm sticking with it!) and one of them was sweet enough to let this beauty have a little sleepover at my place.

Isn't it gorgeous?!? I'm kicking myself I passed on this one, I have no idea why I skipped it, because it's freaking awesome! The formula isn't the nicest, it's a little (well, a lot actually) thick, which makes application a bit tricky. But I think that's just a problem with my friends bottle.
It was opaque in 2 coats and dried fast, although a little matte, so a top coat is a must!

I can't get enough of it and I'm dreading the day I have to give it back. Maybe I'll just tell her the bottle broke *angelface*

Dollish Polish Expecto Patronum

Sometimes you don't know you need a polish until you own it and paint it on your nails for the first time. Today I have such a polish for you. A friend of mine hunted this down like a mad woman, but I thought it wasn't the color for me. Boy, was I wrong!

Dollish Polish Expecto Patronum is a white crelly polish with a crapton of teal glitter in it. I can't put it any better than Dollish Polish did on their website, so I'm not going to try, but I can tell you it's stunning! This is what Dollish says about this highly coveted polish:

This charm is a spell that evokes a partially-tangible, positive energy force known as a Patronus. This famous spell from the book/movie "Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azakaban" which allows Harry to fend off Dementors with an ethereal glowing white shield of energy when used.

This is a milky white crelly polish with a hint of Mint Green, has iridescent flakies and varying size Teal Green holographic glitters for a magically enchanting manicure worthy of Hogwarts!

White is not the best color on me, but I loved the name and it had to be added to my stash. Because it's just so gorgeous in the bottle, this ended up on my nails quite quickly and to my surprise I loved it! It is a little pale for my skin tone, but I don't care! Just look at it! You do need 2 - 3 coats to get it opaque, but the formula is nice enough that this isn't a big problem. It flows on the nail easily and it dries really fast. This is 2 coats, but I could have done a third.

If you love white, teal or glitter you need this! If you're a Harry Potter fan you need this! If you love polish, you need this! Basically, everybody needs this!

Dollish Polish 1,2, Freddy's coming for you!

This time of year I seem to love my glitters, especially my red and green glitters. I love the holiday season and those are the perfect holiday colors! I am always on the hunt for China Glaze's Party Hardy, but so far, no luck. I know there a several dupes for it, but I can't get my hands on any of those. So when I saw this polish, I was all over it!

Dollish Polish 1,2, Freddy's coming for you is an clear base packed with red, green, magenta and black glitter. Because I layered it over black, the red, green and magenta glitter is the most noticable on the nail and I absolutely love it!

This is just 1 coat over 1 coat of black.The formula was perfect! No need to dab the glitter, it came out the botlle and off the brush with ease with great opacity. It dried really fast, but a little on the dull side, so a shiny top coat is a must. This also smooths out the polish, as it is rather chunky because of all the glitter.

Of course the inspiration for this polish, which was part of the Halloween Fright Nights Collection 2013 is none other than mr Freddy Kreuger himself, the well know character from A nightmare on Elm Street.

I just can't get over this collection, I picked up 5 of the 8 polishes and they are all great, so be prepared to see a few more! I think Dollish Polish came out with the best Halloween collection ever this year! But because Halloween is just 1 day, I couldn't wear them all, even though I did a whole week of Halloween mani's, but I think this is great for the entire holidays season.

I have quite a few more on my wishlist, I'm sure that "You'll shoot yur eye out, kid", "Purple Nurples", "It's bigger on the inside" and "I wanna do bad things with you" will eventually be added to my stash, along with a few more... I mean, how can I, as a big Big Bang Theory fan, resist a polish called "I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested"???

Halloweek: Dollish Polish Welcome to Camp Crystal Lake

I am a huge fan of horror movies, I can watch them anytime and I watch all types of horror. When I saw Dollish Polish was releasing a Halloween collection, inspired by horror movies, I was all over that! The entire collection has 8 polishes, but I only got 5 of them, because the other 3 didn't appeal to me. Today I have one of those polishes for you.

Dollish Polish Welcome to Camp Crystal Lake is inspired by Friday the 13th and even though the movie is not one of my favorites, I love this polish! Dollish' description of this polish is spot on:

Inspired by the movie, Friday The 13th, This Navy Blue jelly jammed-packed with hexagon & dots glitters in multi shades of Blue, Silver, and Turquoise giving the illusion of "lake-like" crystal water appearance on your nails, minus the crazy guy in the hockey mask.

I have to admit, this polish is a weird one for me. I normally really don't like sheer polishes, they annoy me and don't look good on my nails. But this one... This is a true jelly base and as a result, it is really sheer. I did 3 coats, and it's still not completely opaque. But, I actually love that about this polish! It looks like a jelly sandwich and fits the name perfectly! It's that perfect lake water color, blue with a hint of green, almost teal, packed with different sized glitter and large round holo glitter. Stunning!

The formula was really nice and it dried fast, but I did have to fish the large round glitter out of the bottle, after 3 coats of polish I had a total of 0 on my nails without fishing... jup... none came out on their own. They do make this polish special, so I think the fishing is definitely a must, but with a result like this, I really didn't mind.

I love this collection and will be showing the other ones I got very soon!
