China Glaze Immortal

We were promissed snow this week, but unfortunately, all I've seen is a lot of rain and wind. It's just so grey and gloomy outside, I really felt like having a polish on my nails to match, so I gazed at all my polishes and picked one that looked like storm in a bottle, but in the best possible way.

China Glaze Immortal is a midtoned grey polish with a ton of shimmer. It looks like silver shimmer at first glance, but when you look closer, you see it's not silver at all, but a gorgeous blue and purple.

The formula is nice, a bit on the sheer side, but I was able to get it opaque in 2 coats. It's easy to paint on the nail and it dries fast enough. This polish was part of the Halloween 2012 Wicked collection and has sadly been discontinued, but I only picked it up recently, so it's still available on eBay.

I absolutely love this polish! I love a nice grey polish, but the shimmer makes it simply stunning and a totally unique polish in my stash. Normally you only see shimmer like this when you're in direct sunlight, but with this polish it's definitely noticable all the time. I would absolutely recommend picking this up if you have the chance.

#XMASNORULES: Gingerbread Man

I'm loving this challenge so much, everybody is creating so many gorgeous mani's and I'm really getting inspired to try even more nail art!
Today's theme was a struggle for me though, I had no idea what to do with Gingerbread man... I watched a lot of tutorials on youtube and googled my heart out, but I didn't find anything that I really liked AND was able to recreate. So finally, I just gave up and chose a very simple art.

It's just the Gingerbread man "suit". Frosting on the bottom and 2 little buttons on his belly. I don't like how this turned out at all! I really think I should have kept the frosting part a little smaller and the buttons... don't get me started!

Even the pictures are really bad, because my home made light box was demolished by my cat. Apparently it did something bad to Dinkie in the dark, because she got so mad at the poor little light box and literally tore it to shreds... No fixing that and I am now on the hunt for a proper light box. Suggestions are more than welcome!

Anyway, I managed to get a few pictures so I have something to show you.

I used China Glaze Street Chic for my base color, I had to, it's the only brown polish I own...
The white frosting is a striper, as is the red line.
The buttons are made with China Glaze Four leaf Clover and Phat Santa.

Let's quickly forget about today's theme and move on to the next one: Christmas Tree.
I should be able to get someting nice on my nails for that one!

Dollish Polish 1,2, Freddy's coming for you!

This time of year I seem to love my glitters, especially my red and green glitters. I love the holiday season and those are the perfect holiday colors! I am always on the hunt for China Glaze's Party Hardy, but so far, no luck. I know there a several dupes for it, but I can't get my hands on any of those. So when I saw this polish, I was all over it!

Dollish Polish 1,2, Freddy's coming for you is an clear base packed with red, green, magenta and black glitter. Because I layered it over black, the red, green and magenta glitter is the most noticable on the nail and I absolutely love it!

This is just 1 coat over 1 coat of black.The formula was perfect! No need to dab the glitter, it came out the botlle and off the brush with ease with great opacity. It dried really fast, but a little on the dull side, so a shiny top coat is a must. This also smooths out the polish, as it is rather chunky because of all the glitter.

Of course the inspiration for this polish, which was part of the Halloween Fright Nights Collection 2013 is none other than mr Freddy Kreuger himself, the well know character from A nightmare on Elm Street.

I just can't get over this collection, I picked up 5 of the 8 polishes and they are all great, so be prepared to see a few more! I think Dollish Polish came out with the best Halloween collection ever this year! But because Halloween is just 1 day, I couldn't wear them all, even though I did a whole week of Halloween mani's, but I think this is great for the entire holidays season.

I have quite a few more on my wishlist, I'm sure that "You'll shoot yur eye out, kid", "Purple Nurples", "It's bigger on the inside" and "I wanna do bad things with you" will eventually be added to my stash, along with a few more... I mean, how can I, as a big Big Bang Theory fan, resist a polish called "I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested"???

#XMASNORULES: Christmas Lights

Lucky for me this is a No Rules Christmas Challenge, because I totally got my dates mixed up...
I thought today was the Christmas Lights day, turns out it was yesterday. Oh well, It's probably still December 2nd in some part of the world.

I love Christmas lights, they are so cheerful and festive. I always decorate my Christmas tree with a lot of lights and have candles burning everywhere. Usually I tend to have just white lights, but for this nail art, I opted for the colored ones, because that just makes my mani more fun and festive.

I really liked how these turned out. This is by no means an original design, I have seen it all over Youtube and on several blogs, but I loved the idea and decided to give them a try. After seeing this on my nails, I didn't think they were quite festive enough, so I added a bit of sparkle. Normally I think sparkle makes everything better, but in this case I don't know. I like them with and without the sparkle.

I used quite a lot of polishes for this mani and I also used a little brush to get the bulbs on my nails. I found it was fun and easy to do, so even if you're nail art challenged like me, you should be able to pull this of.

Essence Alice had a vision... Again!

Happy Monday everybody! Unfortunately I don't have a Mani Monday for you today, as I didn't have time the last few days to create something nice on my nails... I might do a Mani Wednesday instead, but let's see if I can get creative. To add to my time issues, I have internet connection issues as well. My internet is down at home so I have limited acces and have to see if I can get posts uploaded, but I will do my best. I did manage to have a nice post for today!

Sometimes I see a polish, have to have it and add it to my stash, never to be taken out again...
This happenend with this polish, that is, untill I re-discovered it last week and decided it was just to gorgeous to be standing in my Helmer, untried and unloved.

Essence Alice had a vision... Again! is a limited edition polish and was released with the Twilight Breaking Dawn part 2 collection in 2012. As it was LE, it's no longer available in store, but if you really want it, you can still find it on Amazon or Ebay.

This is a deep, dark purple polish, filled with purple shimmer/micro glitter. I think it's glitter, but it's so finely milled it almost looks like a shimmer. This is such a gorgeous color, I don't understand why I haven't tried it before.

The formula was ok, a little on the thick side and even a little goopy, but still easy to get on the nail. Opaque in 2 thin coats, but it dried a little dull, so a shiny top coat is a must. This bottle is different from the normal Essence bottle and I like it a lot better. I don't feel like I'm going to tip it over and spill the polish everywhere. The brush is not so nice though, short and stubby and paired with the big round handle, it takes a little getting used to...

 

Overall I like this polish and am glad I picked it up.
