OPI Crown me already!

If you would've told me I'd be showing you today's polish as a polish I really love about a year ago, I wouldn't have believed you. Not only because it's such a hard to find polish, but because I used to hate silver on my nails. I really didn't like any of the metallic colors, but somehow I've been loving gold and silver lately. I still don't like the (often streaky and brushstroky) metallic foil polishes, but as a color in general... LOVE!

OPI  Crown me already was first released in the Miss Universe 2011 collection and as it's an older polish, you might have a hard time getting your hands on it. This particular polish was on my wishlist for quite some time, before I suddenly stumbled across it while browsing Color 4 Nails.

Crown me already is a stunning silver micro glitter and small silver hex glitter in a clear base. It's so dense though, you can get it opaque all on its own in about 2 coats. It's such a breeze to paint, I didn't have any issues with the glitter what so ever. It dried really fast and shiny, but I do recommend a nice topcoat to smooth it out and prolong your mani.

Funny how your tastes change, because this is fast becoming one of my favorite OPI polishes. It's such an eyecatcher. You can wear this as an overal mani or as an accent nail with just about any polish you want.

The hex glitter makes this a totally unique polish in my collection and I'm so happy I was able to pick it up. You might be able to find this on sites like eBay or Amazon, but I haven't come across one recently. If you do, don't hesitate and just pick it up. You won't be dissapointed!

OPI Do you have this color in Stock-holm?

When OPI released the Nordic collection, I saw some great colors, but I wasn't too excited. A lot of the colors where not that unique and I already owned a few similar shades, so I decided not to pick up any, but there were 2 polishes in the collection that I just couldn't resist. The first one was Viking in a Vinter Vonderland, I already showed you this gorgeous polish and I have the second one for you today.

OPI Do you have this color in stock-holm? is a very vibrant blue based purple cream. It tends to look a little more blue in pictures than it actually is, but I have to say, I'm pretty happy with the color in my shots.

The formula is really nice, it flows on the nail, doesn't want to pool at my cuticles and it levels out nicely. It's opaque in 2 thin coats, dries fast and super shiny.

I actually ordered this polish twice, because the first time I received this, the bottle had broken in transport en I had purple polish everywhere. It doesn't happen often, but it is a risk your taking when ordering online. Luckily, I ordered from a great store and they gave me a full refund for it, so I could order again.

I love this color so much! It's such a vibrant and happy color, you can't help but stare at it. I was a little afraid this would stain my nails, because it's so highly pigmented, but it didn't at all. If you love purple polish, you need to go out and get this!

OPI Lost my bikini in Molokini

Oh hello, Friday, I've missed you! Only a few more hours at work to get through and then I'm off to enjoy my weekend. I caved and I'm going to watch 50 shades of Grey on Sunday, I just have to see for myself if it's any good. I'm not expecting much, but at least I get to enjoy some half naked Jamie Dornan on the big screen, always a plus in my book!

Today's polish is the other polish from the OPI Hawaii collection that I picked up. I loved the colors in this collection, but I thought they were too much like other polishes I already owned.
But I just couldn't resist Aloha from OPI and I since I don't own a lot of purple creams, I picked this one up too.

OPI Lost my bikini in Molokini is a medium purple cream. Nothing special to be honest, but I really love this color and didn't own anything like it yet.

The formula was really nice, easy to paint with just the right consistency, opaque in 2 thin coats and it dried really fast and shiny.

The color is, like I said, not too special, but it is really pretty and flattering on my skin tone. I don't own a lot of purple, because it's not a color I normally gravitate towards. Which is really strange, because I love a good purple and it's my husbands favorite color next to red. If I don't want a red nail, he always asks for purple.

Looking at my nails, I understand why. There's just something a about a purple nail. It makes me think of Summer, having a glass of wine while sitting in the garden, enjoying the nice weather.

My most worn polishes: main stream

When people hear I have a little bit of a nail polish addiction and I own more than 10 bottles of polish, the number one question they ask, is whether I actually wear them all or if there are some polishes that I wear more than others. Truth is, I have a lot of polish I've only worn once. Somehow I always end up wearing the same polishes.
Some I gravitate towards because they have a perfect formula and others I just absolutely love the color of.

Today I'm showing you my most worn polishes from main stream brands. I do have quite a few indie polishes I gravitate towards, but to not make this post about half a mile long, I decided to split them in two. I'll show you my indie most worn polishes next week.

So, let's get started!

I love Zoya and luckily, I now have access to this brand, because Color4Nails started stocking them. But the ones I wear the most, happen to both be Pixie Dusts. Carter on the left and Tomoko on the right. Easy, perfect formula's, no base or topcoat needed and they dry really fast.

Next up is Essie and I have to admit, none of these polishes have a particularly great formula, but I absolutely love the colors! From left to right: Cute as a button, Butler Please and Skirting the Issue. 

I have a lot of OPI's I wear a lot, but these are the ones that I have worn the most and keep wearing over and over. All have really nice formula's, are easy to paint and the colors are just stunning. From left to right you see Suzi ski's in the Pyrenees Suede finish, Lincoln Park after Dark, An affair in Red Square and Smitten with Mittens.

This first one might surprise you, as I haven't even talked about it on my blog. Even though it's a pink glitter, I wore this a LOT! My bottle is almost gone and the polish has gotten so thick, it's almost impossible to paint. But I still wear it, mostly as an accent though, because it's just too much hassle to do all 10 nails. OPI Excuse moi, Dim Sum Plum, Russian Navy, My boyfriends scales walls and My favorite ornament.

China Glaze is probably one of my favorite main stream brands. I love the brush and the colors, but their formula differs quite a bit from one polish to the next. This is Ruby Pumps, Phat Santa ( I keep wanting to call this Bad Santa...), Vermillion and Lubu Heels. yup, all reds, but hey, I just can't live without red nails!

And since China Glaze does make polish in a different color, here are the other ones I rock a lot. It just occured to me, that I totally forgot to include Grass is lime greener... I love that polish and it didn't come of my nails last spring and summer. So just picture it next to Zombie Zest, Splish Splash, Riveting and 108 Degrees.

And lastly, we have some miscellaneous brands. I love all these brands, but I don't own as much of them. But that doesn't mean I don't wear them, these are some of my favorite polishes! We have Orly Melt your popsicle and Angel Eyes, Misa Party in the Masquerade, Color Club Holiday Splendor and Sally Hansen Pacific Blue (original formula).

There your have it, my most worn polishes. I do love every single one and I even have a back up for a few of them.

OPI Aloha from OPI

When the OPI Hawaii collection came out, I told myself I wasn't going to get any of them. Not because I didn't like the colors, but because the ones that I liked the most, didn't look unique to my collection. So I sat on my hands and didn't order any *proud moment*

And then swatched kept coming, polishes kept looking awesome and my polish hoarder instinct came out and ordered a couple.Yes, just a couple, but come on, one's a gorgeous reddish polish, how was I supposed to resist?

OPI Aloha form OPI is a fun and bright coral tinted red cream. This is a hard color to describe, because sometimes it looks red, other times it's coral and it even looks a bit orange on occasion.

The formula is so so nice! It flows on the nail with ease, is opaque in 2 thin coats and dries fast and super shiny. It is a little on the thin side, so be careful not to overload your brush to avoid flooding your cuticles.

Don't even get me started on this color, I love it so much! I already am a big fan of everything red, but this turned out to be such a unique color to my collection. It's red, coral and orange, all in one polish. Love, love, LOVE it!

This is the perfect sping and summer red(dish) polish for me and I can't wait to wear it again. Actually, I might just put it on, right now!

OPI Shine for me

So, no post from me on Wednesday... I've been out sick all week and am still not a 100%. This flu is kicking my butt! I'm coughing so bad, I really thought my lungs would come out at one point. Not a nice feeling, I can tell you... Anyway, on to nicer things!

OPI Shine for me is one of the polishes from the 50 Shades of Grey collection and whether you're a fan or not (I'm not), this is a gorgeous polish. It's a clear base, packed with micro silver glitter and blue and turquoise  small hex glitter.

The formula is a lot nicer than I was expecting from a clear based glitter. When I first saw this, I was expecting a topper, but this is completely opaque on its own in 2 - 3 coats. It's easy to paint and it dries fast and shiny.

I have to say, I was surprised by how much I love this polish! I picked it up, because it looked really unique to me, even though I wasn't sure if I even liked it or not. I think it looks stunning in the bottle and on the nail.

I don't think I have anything like this in my collection, so well done OPI! If you love 50 shades or if you just like silvery glitter, you need this in  your life! The only thing I'm not quite sure off is if I like this on me...

OPI Viking in a Vinter Vonderland

Friday!!! I'm so ready for my weekend! I'm going out for diner with some friends tomorrow, all of whom I met because we all share a love for nail polish, so I'm looking forward to talking about all the new and not so new polishes while stuffing my face with sushi. My idea of a perfect Saturday evening, lol.

I was planning on wearing this next polish for just that occasion, but when this landed on my doorstep, I couldn't wait for this to be on my nails. Patient is not a word you'd use to describe me...

OPI Viking in a Vinter Vonderland is a deep, dark, vampy eggplant purple cream. It was released as part of the 2014 Nordic collection for fall.

The formula is really nice, it flows on the nail with ease, dries really fast and super shiny. It's opaque in about 2 coats, I did see a bald spot here and there, so depending on how thick you make your coats, you might need to add a third, but if you're careful while painting this, 2 is all you'll need.

This is another one of those dark, almost black looking colors like Lincoln Park after Dark and Christmas gone plaid, but this never looks black, you can always tell it's purple.

I absolutely love this color! I'm a huge dark and vampy polish lover and this is right up my alley. It looks very feminine and flattering on every skin tone and I didn't want to take this off my nails, so I rocked it for an entire week.

Are you as big a fan of the darker polishes as I am or do you prefer your mani a little on the lighter side?

OPI Christmas gone plaid

I know Christmas is over, but I always tend to go a little crazy for the holiday collections and there's just not enough time around Christmas to show all the beautiful polishes I add to my collection, so you'll see a few of them popping up during the rest of the year. And let's be honest, this gorgeous polish is not only perfect for the holidays, but all year round!

OPI Christmas gone plaid is a gorgeous deep, vampy green cream and was released as part of the Gwen Stefani Holiday 2014 collection.

The formula is absolutely perfect! It glides on the nail like butter, is opaque in 2 smooth and thin coats and it dries fast and really shiny. The only bad thing about this polish is that it stained my nails pretty bad, but let's be honest, I love the color so much, I really didn't care!

It's such a gorgeous, deep green shade, that you'd expect it to look black, but somehow it never does. You can always tell it's green, even in very dim lighting. I love these types of shades, Lincoln Park after dark is one of my all time favorite OPI's and this gorgeous green is right up there.

This polish was released as part of a Limited Edition holiday collection, but you should still be able to find it everywhere and let's just hope they'll make this part of the permanent collection, because it's a classic, stunning shade.

OPI Stir-fried eggplant

A while ago, I spotted a great deal at a local shop, Big Bazar. They offered 3 OPI polishes for just €10 and of course I took full advantage. When I saw the names of the polishes, I didn't recognize any of them though... I picked up a number of colors I liked anyway and decided to do some research on them when I got back home. I found that these polishes where all existing OPI or Nicole by OPI polishes, but had been renamed for a store in Canada, Winners. Well, that's just fine with me!

This little beauty is OPI Stir-fried eggplant and it's a gorgeous deep reddish purple with a golden micro glitter.

The formula is really nice, 2 easy coats to get opaque and it dries really fast. It does dry shiny, but not as shiny as I like my polish to be, so I'd recommend adding a good layer of top coat.

The color is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for fall. I love these deep, rich colors this time of year. They look so warm and inviting on the nail. The golden glitter is a little hidden on the nail, because the base is so opaque, but I don't mind that. You do get the shimmery quality and I really like how it looks.

This is such a me color, I think I have tons like this, I'm just a sucker for a deep vampy base with golden glitter/shimmer in it. I can't seem to stop buying those polishes. But I don't have a lot with a purple base like this, so totally justifiable in my book!

Pink and Green Water marble

I'm going to be visiting my family this weekend and as usual, I asked my 3 year old niece what color I should paint my nails. She always gives me 1 of 3 answers: pink, blue or red, so I already had a mani for those 3 colors in mind. Of course the little cheecky bugger gave me a completely different answer this time. She demanded in that stern voice only 3 year olds have that I paint my nails pink and green, because those are her favorite colors!

Ok... not 2 colors I'd normally pair together, but I like a challenge! I decided to give water marbling another go. I must have tried to get a decent pattern on my nails like a 100 times before, but I'm just so bad at marbling. I don't know what I do wrong, but I always end up with a mess on my nails.

Not this time! This time it actually turned out great. I really like this mani, so much so, that I decided to share it with you :D

I used the always impossible to photograph China Glaze Four Leaf Clover as my green, OPI Dim Sum Plum for the dark pink and OPI If you moust you moust as my light pink.

I think it's really cute and the colors work really well together. I'm so proud I finally managed to do a water marble, even if it's only on 1 nail.

OPI Racing Red

Sometimes, after I've been wearing a lot of bright colors, glitters, shimmers or just plain sparkly nails, I crave a nice, simple, red cream. Last week was one of those occasions and luckily I have quite a few red creams in my collection. This time, I decided to go with a fairly new addition to my collection (thanks Nans!).

OPI Racing Red is, like I said, a red cream. When I first saw this in the bottle, I was a little disappointed, because it looked really orange. But the friend who gave it to me, said it didn't look orange on the nail, so I trusted her and gave it a go.

The formula is really nice, although a little on the wants-to-run-in-my-cuticle-side, so be careful when applying. It's extremely opaque, almost a one coater, but I did need two to get it even and cover all my ridges. It dried really fast and super shiny, I didn't add a top coat for my pictures, to show just how shiny this is.

This polish was released as part of the OPI Ford Mustang 2014 collection and I love how they printed the Mustang logo on the cap. This just gives it something extra, I wish they would've done the same with the Coca Cola logo for that collection.

Isn't that gorgeous? I don't know what it is about a red nail, but I just can't get enough. Red will always be my favorite color and no matter how many reds I have in my collection, I will always keep buying more!

#SUMMERNORULES: Favorite Red

If you've been following my blog, Instagram or know me even a little bit, you'll know that my absolute favorite color for my nails is red. I rock every single shade and finish at every occasion. I always say "when in doubt, go for red!" I think every girl should find their perfect red polish and if you do, you're set!

So of course I didn't just pick one favorite red for today's theme, did you really think I would? In order to decide which reds truly are my Summer favorites, I started pulling out all my red polishes. I started with OPI, but when I saw how many reds I had from just that brand, I gave up and just pulled out some of my most worn all time favorites.

In Summer you got to have some glitter! I have 2 that I just can't live without. China Glaze Ruby Pumps is one of the first Chine Glaze polishes I purchased and I still love it in every season. I love this as a Christmas mani, but I also love this in Summer. You can tell I've this bottle is well loved!

A more recent purchase and one that I fell in love with as soon as I saw the bottle, is Loaded Lacquer Cuts like a knife. This is the perfect Summer glitter, the sun makes this sparkle and come to life on the nail. It looks like they're on fire!

If I want a more subdued, sophisticated sparkle, I go for Picture Polish Vegas. This is very orange toned, but it's still definitely red on the nail. This has such a great formula, I love it!

My favorite textured red has to be Zoya Chyna. I love to pair this with a light color in Summer for an extra pop on the nail, but I also rock it as a full mani.

And last, but not least, 2 gorgeous crelly OPI polishes. I think everybody knows about Vodka&Caviar but my absolute all time favorite Summer red has to be Girls just want to play. It's a raspberry red crelly and I am so in love with this polish, it's ridiculous! This deserves way more than just a bottle shot at the end of this post, so I'll do a complete post about this stunner next week!
