Loaded Lacquer Tornado in a trailer park

I was in the mood for an over the top, hysterical, it hurts my eyes, but it's so pretty kind of glitter. I had a browse through my stash and this just jumped out at me! I don't think I own anything quite as hysterical (in a very good way) as this!

Loaded Lacquer Tornado in a trailer park is a clear based polish, packed with every single shape, size and color glitter you can imagine. It's got circles, hearts, squares, triangles, butterflies, bars... you name it, it's in there!

Why is this so jampacked with every imaginable glitter you ask? Well, that's because Heather (the owner and creator of Loaded Lacquer) throws all the left over glitter from all of her polishes in this mix. So every time she releases a new polish, new glitter is added to the Tornado mix, which means you could potentially buy this polish over and over again and get a different polish every time.

The formula is really nice for such a packed polish. The glitter comes out easily, but if you want every single shape on your nail, you might need to do a tiny bit of fishing. I personally just paint 1 -2 coats and see what I end up with. It dries really fast and shiny, but adding a top coat to smooth it out is a very good idea.

If you love a nice, over the top glitter, you'll absolutely love this polish! If not, well... my advise would be to stay far far away from this one :D

Loaded Lacquer is available on the website, check out the restock page to see when this polish will be available again.

Are you a glitter lover like me or do you prefer more subtle polishes?

Loaded Lacquer Claus-trophobic

Today I have a polish to show you I'd never thought I would own. It was part of the Holiday collection for 2013 and sadly, it has been discontinued. But I kept looking at it on the Loaded Lacquer website's discontinued page and when I mentioned on Instagram that I was sad I couldn't get it, Heather replied that she happened to have a bottle left and was more than willing to sell it to me. Hurray for Heather!!!

Loaded Lacquer Claus-trophobic is a gorgeous black jelly base packed with green and copper micro glitter. I had a hard time figuring out if this had a black or a deep brown base, but I think it's black and the copper glitter just makes it look brown.

The formula is so nice for this polish. It flows on the nail hassle free, is opaque in 2 -3 coats, depending on how thick you make your coats. It dries really fast and reasonably shiny, but I would recommend adding a nice, glossy topcoat to smooth out the glitter and give it even more shine.

I did 2 coats with HK girl topcoat and that was more than enough for me. I love this polish so much! It's such a gorgeous warm base color and the micro glitters give it a nice little kick. I keep staring at my nails in different lighting, because it looks different every time. I'm so happy Heather had a bottle left so I could add this beauty to my ever growing Loaded Lacquer stash.

Unfortunately, you can't get this particular polish any more, unless Heather brings it back for a while. She tends to do that and I love her for it, because she has a few discontinued polishes left I'd like to get my hands on!

There are some other gorgeous polishes available on the Loaded Lacquer site though, so definitely worth checking out!

What's your favorite Loaded Lacquer?

Loaded Lacquer Freezing my baguettes off

Winter has hit, well, as much of a winter as we get, which means my hands are starting to look like old lady hands again. I keep applying hand cream and cuticle butter or oil, but they're still dry and somehow extremely wrinkly. Not fun...

The polish I have to show you today is fun though! It's from one of my favorite indie brands and although it's not my normal type of color, I do really like it.

Loaded Lacquer Freezing my baguettes off is a white jelly base packed with pink and rose metallic hex, square, circle and micro glitters. It also has some iridescent glitter in there to give it a little more depth.

The formula is really nice, like I've come to expect from this brand. You can get this opaque on its own in about 3 coats, but I like it better layered over a white or, like I did in these pictures, a very light pink polish. The glitter comes out easily, no need to fish and I like that you don't get an overload of glitter with each coat, so you can do a few coats without getting to much glitter on the nail.

I layered 2 coats of Freezing my baguettes off over a single coat of China Glaze Friends forever, right? and I think this makes for the perfect, girly combination. I don't wear baby pink often, as it's just a bit to sweet for me, but add some glitter and I'm all in!

This polish is part of the 2014 Ha Ha Holiday collection and I love the fact that Heather stayed away from the normal holiday reds and gave us a different kind of Holiday collection. If you haven't tried any Loaded Lacquer polishes before, you really should give them a go, they're awesome!

You can get these gorgeous polishes on the Loaded Lacquer website, but it's currently closed until the end of January, so check back than.

What do you think of this polish? Do you like the white jelly based glitters or do you stay away from them as far as you can get?

Loaded Lacquer Fall Duo

I've had this gorgeous duo sitting in my stash for a while, but with all the nice weather we've been having, I just wasn't feeling it yet. I thouht this gorgeous duo deserved one of those fall days, where the leaves are blowing in the wind and the sun peeks out behind just a few clouds to set all the gorgeous fall colors on fire. Because that's what these polishes make me think of every time I look at them.

So when that kind of weather happened over the weekend, I finally busted out the Loaded Lacquer Fall Duo.

This duo consists of 2 polishes (duh, it's a duo!), the first one is Rusted Pumpkin, a gorgeous rusty red/brown/orange jiggle (Loaded Lacquers term for her jelly polishes).

The second polish is called Dark Chocolate Truffle and this is a glitter topper with black hex in several sizes, brown hex, bronze hex, burgundy hex glitter and golden flakes.

The formula for both these polishes is really nice. The jelly is a little thicker, like most jelly's, but still easy to work with. It's opaque in about 2 - 3 coats, but since it's a jelly, you'll always see a little nail line. The glitter is a topper and although you could probably get this fully opaque in about 4 coats, I wouldn't recommend it. All the glitters lay flat on the nail, I didn't have any problems with glitters sticking up on my nails. Both dry fast and shiny, but I added a top coat, to smooth the glitter out.

You can get both these polishes scented and I decided to do so. The jelly smells like pumpkin and the glitter smells like chocolate. When you wear them both, you mostly get the chocolate smell, but with a hint of pumpkin. I have to admit, I really like it! The only problem is that I keep smelling my nails and people started to look funny at me... Oh wel...

I wasn't sure about Rusted Pumpkin when I first got it, I didn't think this would be my kind of color, but I'm glad I decided to pick it up anyway, because I actually love it on my nails. It works well with my skintone and pairs really nicely with the glitter. I think I'm going to get a lot of use out of this polish.

Loaded lacquer is available on this website. If you love glitter, you need to try this indie brand!
I'm already planning on picking up more, as Heather (the owner and creator of Loaded Lacquer) is set to release her Ha Ha Holiday collection on Friday the 28th of november.

Will you be picking up a couple of these gorgeous glitters or jelly's?

Loaded lacquer Brain Breath

Happy Halloween everybody!!!
This post was supposed to go up yesterday, but I had a few issues with my pictures, so I'm a day late... but better late than never, right?!

If you've been following my blog for a while, you know I love pretty/ugly colors, especially the murky green ones like Zombie Zest, Walker Bait and It's Alive. So when I saw a murky green polish in the Zombie Hayride collection, I knew instantly it would be another winner.

Loaded Lacquer Brain Breath is a murky, slimy green jelly base with a very strong copper, almost pink shimmer.

The formula is a touch on the thicker side, but still very easy to apply. Because of the jelly base, you do need 3 coats to get it fully opaque, but it dries so fast, 3 coats isn't a problem at all! Because it's a little thicker, you could get away with 2 thick coats, but I prefer 3 thin coats.

I love this color, but I think the majority will say this is a disgusting color to put on your nails. But what did you expect from a polish that's called Brain Breath... it has to be a little disgusting! I can just picture a zombie grunting to another zombie before a hot date: "I just ate lunch, do I have Brain Breath?"

The shimmer in this polish is what makes this a winner for me. It gives it just a little extra and it makes it pop on my nails. I've had so many comments on my nails today, positive and not so positive ones, but this baby gets noticed! If you like your polish a little different than most, I'd definitely recommend checking this one out!

Loaded Lacquer is available here, but the site is currently closed for a holiday and restock. The shop will open again in November and I can't wait, as the Holiday collection will be revealed. I already know I need every single one of them (obsessed much? Lol!)

What do you think about this polish? Gorgeous or disgusting color?

Loaded Lacquer Glitter Graveyard

As soon as I heard Heather from Loaded Lacquer was coming out with a Halloween collection, I knew I had to have it. Even before seeing any pictures, there was no doubt in my mind I would love every single polish and she hasn't disappointed with her Zombie Hayride collection!

The collection consists of 4 polishes and today I have the first one to show you.

Loaded Lacquer Glitter Graveyard is a black jelly base, packed with black holographic multi-sized hex, silver holographic multi-sized hex, holographic red squares, rainbow micro shimmer and a dusting of reflective pigment. The pigment won't show up unless you are in the dark and with a bright light on your nails. I have to say, it was loads of fun during my Zumba class with all the flashing lights!

The formula is absolutely perfect! I layered just 1 coat over 1 coat of black and there was no need to fish, place or dab, the glitter went on smoothly. You can definitely get this opaque on its own in 2 - 3 coats, but I like it better over black as you don't get as much glitter on your nails and all the individual glitter stands out more. It dries really fast and shiny, but I would recommend a good coat of top coat to smooth the glitter out.

Isn't that gorgeous? I love it so much, I can't stop staring at my nails. I actually crawled underneath my deks with my flashlight app to try to capture the reflective pigment in a picture, but no such luck. If you want to see a great picture of the pigment, check out the bottle shot on the Loaded Lacquer site.

I'm a sucker for Halloween and Holiday polish in general, but this year I've been quite good at not overbuying. This might have something to do with the fact that I really don't like the mainstream brands Halloween collections, but I'm still very proud of myself for saving my money for gorgeous collections like this one!

Do you like Halloween polish as much as I do and which one's your favorite?

Loaded Lacquer Pomegranate

Happy Monday everybody! Today is the first official day of my 3 week holiday and of course it's raining outside. Oh well, on Friday I leave for a nice full week in Greece and I can't wait!

Yesterday, the lovely Heather from Loaded Lacquer had a restock and I was able to pick up her new Jiggles. Of course I did it in style, with my favorite jiggle on my nails and I realized I've been loving her jiggles, but I haven't blogged about them yet. Today that oversight gets rectified!

Loaded Lacquer Pomegranate is a pinkie red jelly, or jiggle as she calls them.

The formula for all her jiggles is very nice. They go on very easily and are opaque in about 3 thin coats, but I always have a slight visible nail line showing through. I don't mind, in real life it's less noticable and at least when I'm wearing one of these gorgeous polishes, I don't have to say over and over again that yes, they are my real nails!

This dries really fast and super glossy, no top coat needed, but I alway add one. I absolutely love the squissy look of a jelly polish and they are perfect for jelly sandwices. I sandwiched Cuts like a knife on my ring finger and it looks so good, I'm actually thinking of making this my holiday mani on all my nails.

If you've been following this blog for a while (or if you follow me on instagram @darkntwistynails), than you know I'm madly in love with Loaded Lacquer. I love her glitters, but I also love her jiggles collection. They really are perfect.

You can purchase them here and they were just restocked yesterday. There are still a few left, but you have to be quick, they always sell out extremely fast! If you missed out on this restock, don't worry, there will be another one soon, just keep an eye on the restock page on the Loaded Lacquer site!

What's your favorite jelly polish and how do you wear it?

#SUMMERNORULES: Favorite Red

If you've been following my blog, Instagram or know me even a little bit, you'll know that my absolute favorite color for my nails is red. I rock every single shade and finish at every occasion. I always say "when in doubt, go for red!" I think every girl should find their perfect red polish and if you do, you're set!

So of course I didn't just pick one favorite red for today's theme, did you really think I would? In order to decide which reds truly are my Summer favorites, I started pulling out all my red polishes. I started with OPI, but when I saw how many reds I had from just that brand, I gave up and just pulled out some of my most worn all time favorites.

In Summer you got to have some glitter! I have 2 that I just can't live without. China Glaze Ruby Pumps is one of the first Chine Glaze polishes I purchased and I still love it in every season. I love this as a Christmas mani, but I also love this in Summer. You can tell I've this bottle is well loved!

A more recent purchase and one that I fell in love with as soon as I saw the bottle, is Loaded Lacquer Cuts like a knife. This is the perfect Summer glitter, the sun makes this sparkle and come to life on the nail. It looks like they're on fire!

If I want a more subdued, sophisticated sparkle, I go for Picture Polish Vegas. This is very orange toned, but it's still definitely red on the nail. This has such a great formula, I love it!

My favorite textured red has to be Zoya Chyna. I love to pair this with a light color in Summer for an extra pop on the nail, but I also rock it as a full mani.

And last, but not least, 2 gorgeous crelly OPI polishes. I think everybody knows about Vodka&Caviar but my absolute all time favorite Summer red has to be Girls just want to play. It's a raspberry red crelly and I am so in love with this polish, it's ridiculous! This deserves way more than just a bottle shot at the end of this post, so I'll do a complete post about this stunner next week!

What's your all time favorite Summer (or any other season) red?

Loaded Lacquer Foolish Hearts

When I heard Loaded Lacquer was retiring a few gorgeous polishes, I couldn't help myself and ordered them before they were out of stock. I was very quick about it, but I still managed to miss out on a couple that I wanted, so if anybody has 40 below and wants to get rid of it (not very likely, it's gorgeous), please let me know!

Today I have one of the discontinued polishes to show you, so sadly you won't be able to pick this up anymore, but it's just so pretty, I had to show mine off. Maybe we can get Heather to mix just one more batch if we ask really nicely, lol.

Loaded Lacquer Foolish Hearts is half of the 2014 Valentine's Duo, I already showed you the other half, Cuts like a knife, a gorgeous red glitter. Foolish is a clear based topper, filled with holographic black hearts, holographic silver hearts, matte black hearts, transparent white hearts, purple hearts, holographic black hex, matte grape hex and holographic silver hex in multiple sizes. Well... if that's not enough glitter for you, I give up!

The formula is absolutely perfect, this is definitely a topper, I think you could get it opaque in 3 - 4 coats, but the end result would just be one big glitter overload and even I think that would be too much of a good thing, so I'm sticking with this being a topper.

Application is a breeze, the glitters come out so easily, no need to fish, not even for the hearts. The brush picks up so much glitter, you might have to move them around a tiny bit on the nail to get them where you want them. The glitter lays nice and flat on the nail, I had absolutely no problem with curling whatsoever. This dried really fast and shiny, but I would recommend a good layer of top coat to smooth everything out.

Don't you just love this gorgeous purple and black? I decided to go for an accent nail with one of my favorite polishes from the China Glaze City Flourish collection, Lotus Begin. I think these polishes compliment each other really nicely and I'm loving my mani.

I'm in love with Loaded Lacquer and really do want all Heather's polishes. You can get yours at the Loaded Lacquer site. She added restock info, so if the polish you want isn't in stock, check out that section to see when it will be available again.

What's your favorite Loaded Lacquer and if you don't own any yet, which one would you like to try?

Loaded Lacquer Giddy Up

I've said it on this blog before and I'll say it again: if you love glitter polish, you need some Loaded Lacquer in your life! They truly are the best glitters... ever! Today I have another gorgeous glitterbomb to show you.

Loaded Lacquer Giddy Up is a clear base packed with multi-sized holographic silver hex, berry pink hex, bright pink hex, lilac hex, holographic magenta hex, and an incredibly unique blue/gray hex!
Wow... that's a lot of glitter and it makes for one stunning combination!

The formula is, like all Loaded lacquer glitters I've tried, perfect. The glitters come out easily, no fishing required, even the large glitters are very well behaved. All you need is 1 coat over an opaque base for a stunning result, or you can add a second or third coat to get it completely opaque all on its own. That's how packed with glitter this polish is.

I layered Giddy Up over OPI Dim Sum Plum for this mani and I really love the combination. The deep plum base makes the glitter pop on my nails and when the sun hits the holo glitter... I have no words to describe how gorgeous this polish is. An absolute must have in my book!

Loaded Lacquer is available on this website. Heather (creator of Loaded Lacquer) just posted on Facebook and Instagram that she will be coming out with a new collection very soon, the Sushi Bar Collection.
Oh boy... Heather, what are you doing to me? Not only are your polishes awesome and hard to resist, now you combine my two favorite things in 1 collection: sushi and glitter! I need them all!

Have you tried Loaded Lacquer and if not, what's stopping you?

Loaded Lacquer Get Lei'd

As you probably all know by now, I'm a huge fan of the Loaded Lacquer glitters. They are so opaque and easy to paint, I just can't get enough! But Loaded Lacquer doesn't just have great glitters, Heather also has some great jelly's (the jiggles collection which I will be reviewing a bit later) and crelly's. Today I have one of those to show you.

Loaded Lacquer Get Lei'd is a neon orange coral crelly with a blueish violet micro shimmer. It's part of the Hula Girl collection, which consists of 5 awesome polishes. I already showed you 2 gorgeous polishes from this collection: Dashboard Dancing and Paradise Overdose

The formula is really nice, it's opaque in 2-3 coats, depending on how thick your layers are. It dries really fast and the color is amazing! It really glows on your nails.

It's so bright and fun, I absolutely love it! The shimmer really gives life and depth to this polish, without being overly in your face. I got so many comments when I wore this polish, I've actually been stopped in the streets twice by people asking what was on my nails. Another winner from Loaded Lacquer!

Loaded Lacquer is available here and the shop has just been restocked, so get them while you can, trust me, every polish lover needs some Loaded Lacquer in her life!
